Biographical Sketch
Anwar Ahmed, MD, is a Staff Member of the Center for Neurological Restoration and a Staff Member of the Department of Neurology Movement Disorders. His specialty interests include movement disorders and tremor analysis in diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, as well as dystonia.
Dr. Ahmed earned his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed an internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, a residency in neurology at Detroit Receiving Hospital and University Health Center in Detroit, Mich., a fellowship in surgical approaches to movement disorders and motor physiology in the Neurological Institute at Columbia-Presbyterian University Medical Center in New York and a clinical research fellowship in movement disorders in the Department of Neurology at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
He has conducted a number of research studies, presented and published on topics such as unusual movement disorders, treatment of tremor caused by multiple sclerosis, brain stimulation for movement disorders, and Parkinson’s disease, among others.
