Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.

The doctor couldn't have been more awesome! Her knowledge was so impressive but she explained things so I could understand and I didn't feel "dumb" for asking questions! My husband said she was his favorite of the day!!!

Dr. Scheman was nice and informative, but upon meeting her, when I told her what I did for work, she immediately responded with: why would anyone do that? Which was a bit rude.. She also kind of made it seem that deep relaxation techniques were the answer to all of my pain when it really just will be one component. While I agree with her teachings, I had told her I had down cognitive breathing techniques before.. She told me hers were completely different when in reality ( after watching her videos) it was the exact same thing I've tried in the past so it came across as a lie.. Again, she was very knowledgeable but was more concerned with telling me all of the medication I'm taking needs to stop and her videos/ recordings will be the answer to my 10 years of chronic pain.. When it reality it's a combo of both.

I would not recommend Dr. Scheman to someone with severe pain, but would recommend her to someone who experiences mild pain and relaxation is all that is needed!

Dr. Mihaljavic, I believe that every surgery patient would benefit from seeing Dr. Schuman prior to their surgery. I felt calmed and better prepared after our visit.
