Biographical Sketch

P. Ravi Kiran MBBS, MS (General Surgery), FRCS (England), FRCS (Glasgow), FACS, is currently appointed as Staff Surgeon and Associate Director of Clinical Research in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified by the American College of Surgeons and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow.

He completed general surgical residency in New York and Connecticut, and fellowship training in colorectal surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He completed medical school and general surgical training at Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India. He then underwent four years of advanced training in colorectal surgery in Oxford, Cambridge, Gloucester and Swindon in the United Kingdom before completing training in general surgery and colorectal surgery in the USA.

Clinical interests include surgery for inflammatory bowel disease including ileoanal pouch surgery, Redo pouch surgery, Koch pouch (continent ileostomy), laparoscopic surgery, surgery for colon and rectal cancer and complex reoperative abdominal and pelvic surgery.

Research interests include inflammatory bowel disease, outcomes studies, clinical trials and clinical databases. He is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, several chapters for surgical text books and has presented at various national and international meetings pertaining to colon and rectal surgery.
