Biographical Sketch

Mohamed Kanj, MD, is an Associate Staff Physcian in the Division of Electrophysiology in the Department of Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine, and cardiac pacing and electrophysiology. His office is located on the main campus.

His areas of interest include ablation of complex arrhythmia, including atrial fibrillation and endocardial and epicardial ventricular tachycardia ablation., using standard navigation, Sensei TM Robotic navigation and Niobe TM magnetic navigation. Additionally, his interests include device implantation and lead extraction

Dr. Kanj received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, in 1997. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He was chief medical resident at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, completing his residency in June 2002. From there he was a Cardiovascular Fellow at Medical College of Ohio, Toledo, Ohio. He joined the Cleveland Clinic in March of 2005 and became Chief Fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing.

He has received honors both in his native Lebanon and in the United States. In the former, he received the Harriri and Makassed Awards, and in the latter the Smokler’s Award. He won Outstanding Junior and Senior Resident Awards and an Outstanding Resident Teaching Award.

Currently Dr. Kanj holds memberships in the American College of Cardiology, The Heart Rhythm Society, and the European Cardiac Arrhythmia society.

Dr. Kanj is proficient in computer skills, including web designing, programming. His undergraduate degree was in Computer Science.

Dr. Kanj has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, he has contributed several book chapters and continues writing in his areas of interest.
