Biographical Sketch
Dr Adrienne Boissy, MD is an Associate Staff at the Cleveland Clinic Mellen Center for MS and has a secondary appointment in the Department of Bioethics. She completed her medical school training at Pennsylvania State University and finished her neurology residency at the Cleveland Clinic. While completing fellowship training in neuroimmunology, she participated in clinical trials provided clinical care to MS patients. She was also awarded a Slyvia Lawry Fellowship grant from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Graduate coursework at the Case Western Reserve University including biostatistics, epidemiology and research design. Dr Boissy continues to participate in multiple clinical trials.
Ethical issues related to dual kidney transplantation sparked an interest in bioethics. Over the past few years, Dr Boissy increasingly focused on the ethical issues as relates to neurological disease. She was selected from neurology residents across the country to participate in a clinical ethics elective sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology. She also serves on the Cleveland Clinic's Ethics Committee, which evaluates difficult patient cases and guides policy formation.
Most recently, Dr Boissy has been appointed as Patient Experience Officer for the Neurological Institute. She leads the Neurological Institute Patient Advisory Council and develops programs aimed at improving the experiences of our patients, employees, and staff. Dr Boissy has a unique and compassionate perspective which she incorporates into caring for patients and their family members.
