Milind Desai, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, at Cleveland Clinic Heart and Vascular Institute. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University . He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He holds dual appointment in the departments of cardiovascular medicine and radiology.
Dr. Desai's is an expert in multi-modality cardiovascular imaging, having achieved the highest level of proficiency in all imaging modalities, including Cardiac MRI, Cardiac CT, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. He is a staff of the clinical echocardiography and cardiovascular (CT and MRI) laboratory.
His patient-related interests include evaluation and management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, complex valvular diseases and complex coronary artery disease.
His research interests include noninvasive atherosclerosis imaging using CT and MRI, understanding the role of evolving techniques like cardiac CT in cardiac risk prediction, role of Echo/CT/MRI in predicting outcomes in various cardiomyopathies and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy research.
A native of India , Dr. Desai received his medical degree from NHL Municipal Medical College , Ahmedabad , India . Throughout his academic training, Dr. Desai was honored for his academic excellence.
He did his internship and residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He continued his clinical training with a fellowship in nuclear cardiology from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston , a fellowship in general cardiology from Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh , a fellowship in general cardiology and cardiovascular imaging from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , and a fellowship in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging from the National Institutes of Health in Maryland .
Dr. Desai has also served as a staff nuclear cardiologist at Brigham and Women?s Hospital. He had academic appointment as a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School and continues to be a visiting assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University .
He has authored or co-authored articles on his specialty interests in publications such as Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European heart Journal, Heart, Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, American Journal of Cardiology and the American Heart Journal.
He is a reviewer for Circulation, Journal of American College of Cardiology, JACC Imaging, ATVB, Heart, American Journal of Cardiology and American Journal of Roentgenology.
