Biographical Sketch

Chiara Liguori, MD, is a staff cardiologist in the Section of Cardiovascular Imaging, Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, at the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family  Heart & Vascular Institute at Cleveland Clinic. She is board-certified as Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and as Diplomate of the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease. She holds a comprehensive certification in adult echocardiography and is also certified in nuclear handling and safety. Dr. Liguori specializes in valve disease.

A native of Italy and fluent in Italian, English and Spanish, Dr. Liguori received her medical degree from the School of Medicine "Federico II" at the University of Naples. She did an internship and residency in internal medicine at the School of Graduate Medical Education at Seton Hall University in New Jersey, followed by a fellowship there in cardiovascular disease. She accepted a fellowship in heart failure and heart transplantation from the Presbyterian University at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in advanced echocardiography from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University in New York City.

She then returned to Italy to continue her training as a Visitor Fellow in the division of cardiology at V. Monaldi Hospital in Naples, eventually becoming an echocardiographic researcher in the department of cardiothoracic surgery at the Instituto Policlinico in San Donato Milanese. She then received a fellowship in noninvasive nuclear cardiology from Deborah Heart and Lung Center in New Jersey, which completed her clinical training. She was appointed to Cleveland Clinic in 2005.

Dr. Liguori has held academic appointments as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at The Cleveland Foundation.

Dr. Liguori is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
