Biographical Sketch
Brian K. Johnson, MD, is a Staff member of the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Cleveland Clinic's main campus. Dr. Johnson is board-certified in perioperative echocardiography.
Dr. Johnson was appointed to his current position in 2007. Prior to that, he was Staff physician in the Department of General Anesthesia at Cleveland Clinic with specialty interests in vascular, ambulatory, liver transplant and part-time cardiac anesthesia. Dr. Johnson completed a surgical internship in Wichita Kan. and began his anesthesia residency followed by his fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at Cleveland Clinic in 2001.
Dr. Johnson's goal within the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology is to improve resident education within that department. Dr. Johnson holds a joint appointment with the Department of Anesthesia Education, which has allowed him to attend the Harvard Macy Institute for Health Care Educators in 2008. This course will allow him to explore and develop new teaching and evaluation systems for the Education Department. Dr. Johnson maintains interest in education, patient safety, patient simulation and cardiac anesthesia.
