Biographical Sketch
Shari Martyn, MD, is Associate Staff at the Cole Eye Institute at Cleveland Clinic's main campus. She also practices at Cleveland Clinic's Independence and Beachwood campuses. Dr. Martin is Assistant Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University. Her specialties are cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetes.
After earning a doctorate in medicine at Case Western, Dr. Martyn did two residencies at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland. First, she completed an internal medicine residency and then a second in ophthalmology, serving as co-chief resident. A Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, she is certified to implant Alcon’s ReSTOR IOL lens in cataract patients.
Dr. Martyn received the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award (2006-2009). She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and of the Cleveland Ophthalmological Society.
After raising a large family and operating a private practice, Dr. Martyn joined University Ophthalmologists, Inc. of Cleveland. She also served as director of medical student education for the Department of Ophthalmology at Case Western and sat on the faculty council. Her research endeavors include a randomized, double-masked, multi-center comparison of the aqueous humor concentration of loteprednol etabonate during routine cataract surgery.
