Biographical Sketch

Amr Fergany, MD, is a Staff physician with the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute at Cleveland Clinic's main campus. He has been with the urologic oncology and the laparoscopy and robotics sections full time since 2002 after one of several sabbaticals teaching in his native Cairo, Egypt. He started with the Cleveland Clinic when he became a research fellow in 1991. His specialty interests include laparoscopic surgery and urologic oncology.

Dr. Fergany received his medical degree from Cairo University, graduating with the Professor Abdel Wahab Mooro Award for highest total surgery grades and the Professor Baden Philip Award for highest clinical medicine grades in his class. He speaks French in addition to Arabic and English.

He has authored dozens of research articles in leading peer-reviewed journals as well as book chapters and videos. He has had several teaching assignments, including his current faculty appointment with the Department of Anatomy in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University, teaching undergraduate anatomy of the kidney and abdominal ureter. He also received the Teacher of the Year Award for his work at the Glickman Urological Institute. Dr. Fergany is a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology.

Dr. Fergany has also received the Cleveland Clinic’s Bruce Hubbard Stewart Award for Humanistic Medicine, honoring a staff physician who exemplifies sensitive and concerned treatment of patients.
