Biographical Sketch
I was born at what is now Cleveland Clinic Health Systems Marymount Hospital and have lived and worked in Cleveland my whole life. I was blessed to have great parents who worked hard to allow me the opportunity to attend St. Peter Chanel High School and I was able to help myself by working at what is now CCHS South Pointe Hospital, which allowed me to get an excellent premedical education at John Carroll University.
After completing four years of osteopathic medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, I returned to CCHS South Pointe, where I completed a one year osteopathic rotating internship and 3 years of Internal Medicine residency, under Robert G. DeRue, DO.
I served two years of service with the U.S. Public Health Service and was in private practice from 1986-1998 and served as the Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director at Richmond Heights General Hospital and the Medical Director of Long Term Care at Heather Hill Hospital, Health and Care Center, before joining the Staff of Cleveland Clinic in 1998.
I have enjoyed the opportunity to be a part of a team of caring professionals at the Cleveland Clinic Willoughby Hills Family Health Center, where I have served as Associate Medical Director, since 2000. I have been given excellent opportunities to be involved in rolling out the Electronic Medical Record at Cleveland Clinic and continue to look for ways that these wonderful tools can help us to serve the people that we see and our community better.
As an osteopathic physician, I have been trained to listen to and care for people, not diseases and I strive to be the best example I can be to those that we teach to continually improve my skills, especially at being a better listener. I am proud to serve my profession, the Cleveland Clinic, and our patients through my involvement in national leadership positions, including the American Osteopathic Association Board of Trustees and the American College of Osteopathic Internists, Board of Directors. I serve locally on the Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Board of Directors and remain a high-school wrestling fan.
I have a wonderful wife and four children, who are completing college, and have each been a blessing to my wife and I. I have been a resident of Concord Township for the last 22 years. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.
