Biographical Sketch
William A. Larchian, MD, joined Cleveland Clinic in 1997 as a member of the Urological Institute. He received his undergraduate, graduate and medical degrees from Boston University. Following his urologic residency, he completed a combined fellowship at Duke University and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in urologic oncology as an American Foundation for Urologic Disease award recipient.

Dr. Larchian's primary interests are in the treatment of urologic malignancies including kidney, prostate, bladder and testicular cancers. He has a special focus on immunologic treatment for superficial bladder cancer. He also performs traditional surgical as well as minimally invasive techniques such as brachytherapy and cryoablation for the treatment of prostate cancer. 

Dr. Larchian has a research laboratory in Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute, with the primary focus of gene therapy for bladder cancer. Additional projects are evaluating new, innovative methods utilizing immunotherapy for the treatment of bladder cancer.

Innovations & Patents
In 1999, Dr. Larchian was the first member of the Cleveland Clinic to utilize intravesical interferon as part of the immunotherapeutic treatment of superficial bladder cancer. This treatment is now a well-accepted option for bladder cancer therapy.

Dr. Larchian was also among the first to offer brachytherapy and cryoablation for the treatment of prostate cancer.
