Biographical Sketch
Dr. Lester Rosen is a Colon and Rectal Surgeon in West Palm Beach Florida. He is Past -President of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He was the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches "Health Care Professional of the Year 2009". He has over 25 years experience in Colon and Rectal Surgery, and was a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Hershey Medical School/ Penn State University. He has 71 publications in Surgical Journals and 5 Book Chapters. He speaks Nationally and Internationally on Colon and Rectal Surgery topics and focuses on quality of care and outcomes. He was an Associate Editor of the specialty journal "Diseases of the Colon and Rectum", and is a Senior Board Examiner for the specialty boards of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
His interest is in Rectal Surgery including hemorrhoids, fissure, fistula, and the prevention of colon and rectal cancer with colonoscopy. He was one of three principal investigators who obtained a federal grant to prove that Colonoscopy was a safe and cost effective method to prevent colon and rectal cancer which was published. That data contributed to the decision that Medicare would fund Colon and Rectal Cancer Screening. He also operates on pilonidal cysts, anal warts and cancer, and provides care for perianal Crohns disease. He performs re-operative surgery for all prior anorectal surgeries ,and consultations for complex Colon diseases such as Cancer, Diverticulitis, Crohns disease, and Ulcerative or Radiation Colitis. Severe Constipation and Fecal Incontinence symptoms are investigated and treated. Ano-rectal surgery is performed in the office, or as an outpatient operative procedure.
