Biographical Sketch

Jane L. Hoover-Plow, PhD, is an Associate Staff member in the Departments of Cardiovascular Medicine and Molecular Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, having accepted that appointment in 2005. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Medicine, CCLM, at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, and an adjunct full member of the graduate faculty in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.

 

Her clinical interests include lipoprotein (a) function and mechanism of risk, as well as the role of plasminogen system in tissue remodeling.

 

Dr. Hoover-Plow graduated from the University of California-Davis with a doctoral degree in biochemical nutrition. Before coming to northeast Ohio, she was an assistant and associate professor (tenured) in the School of Family Studies and Consumer Sciences at San Diego State University. She joined Cleveland Clinic as an assistant staff member in the Joseph J. Jacobs Center for Thrombosis and Vascular Biology and later worked in the Department of Molecular Cardiology in the Lerner Research Institute as assistant staff and then staff scientist.

 

Her professional memberships include, among others, the American Association for Advancement of Science and the American Dietetic Association where she was the RD for 18 years. She was associate editor of Metabolism for five years and currently serves on the membership committee of the American Physiological Society.
