Biographical Sketch
Robert Hobbs, MD, is a Staff Cardiologist in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Section of Heart Failure and Transplant Medicine at the Heart and Vascular Institute of Cleveland Clinic. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Hobbs is board -certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathies and cardiac transplantation.
He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and then he completed his clinical training with a residency in internal medicine at Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. Subsequently, he received a fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic for advanced training in cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Hobbs has been listed repeatedly in Best Doctors in America. He has been listed in Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and in America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals, among many other honors. He is a life member of The National Registry of Who’s Who. Locally, he is named in Northern Ohio Live and Cleveland Magazine as a “Top Doctor.”
Dr. Hobbs has been a prolific research investigator in the area of cardiac transplantation and congestive heart failure, participating in many clinical studies of drugs and devices. He has lectured at more than five hundred professional medical symposia and conferences worldwide. He is author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed articles published in major medical journals. He has written chapters and edited medical textbooks.
He sits on the editorial board of eight medical journals, as well as provides editorial reviews for twenty-two other journals. He has been invited to speak on radio and television news and talk programs on cardiology topics including heart transplants, artificial hearts, among others.
Dr. Hobbs is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He is a member of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and the Heart Failure Society of America. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the International Society of Heart Failure.
Locally, Dr. Hobbs is a member of the Board of Trustees Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and past president of the Board of Trustees of the American Heart Association, Cleveland Metro Division. He is a member of the Board of Trustees and Governor-elect of the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
