Biographical Sketch
John E. Tetzlaff, MD, is Vice-Chair of the Anesthesiology Institute at Cleveland Clinic. He is also Director of the F.G. Estafanous Center for Anesthesiology Education and Program Director for the Anesthesiology residency programs. Dr. Tetzlaff is full Professor of Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Tetzlaff graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1979. Residency training in anesthesiology was at the Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Va., achieving board certification in 1986.
Dr. Tetzlaff is active in all aspects of education, including undergraduate, residency and continuing medical education. He has numerous publications, including two books and the usual mix of chapters, manuscripts and abstracts. His research interests are in regional anesthesia, orthopedic anesthesia, local anesthetic pharmacology, assessment of competency and anesthesiology education. He serves as a reviewer or editorial board member for seven journals. He is Chair of the Lerner College of Medicine Medical Student Promotion and Review Committee and is Director of Clinical Assessment for the college.
