Biographical Sketch
Lilian Gonsalves, MD, is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and Vice-Chair in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Cleveland Clinic. She holds a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Gault Women’s Health Center. She is a Cleveland Clinic-trained, board-certified psychiatrist with interest and expertise in mood disorders in women, chronic pain and psychological aspects of the medically and surgically ill patient. She has also successfully used the group model for medication management in women with anxiety and mood disorders.
Dr. Gonsalves received her medical education at G.S. Medical College in Bombay, India.While in Bombay, she completed an internship at King Edward Memorial Hospital. She completed a psychiatry residency at Cleveland Clinic.
She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, and the American College of Psychiatrists. She has served as Past President of the Cleveland Psychiatric Society, and she was a member of the Cleveland Clinic’s Board of Governors for five years.Actively involved in teaching medical students and residents, her most recent research is focused on patient satisfaction with shared visits for women’s health and women’s mental health. She serves as a journal reviewer for the International Journal of Medicine in Psychiatry, Journal of Women’s Health and Psychosomatics.
