Biography

About Preethi Patel, MD

Preethi Patel, MD was appointed as a Staff Physician in the Department of Hospital Medicine in 2007. She received her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India in 2001. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine from Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI in 2006 and did a one year fellowship in Hospital Medicine with a focus on perioperative medicine and clinical research at the Cleveland Clinic. She is board certified in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Patel is passionate about providing high quality, evidence based care for the patients who are admitted to the hospital. She is an active member of the quality and safety committee and is involved in various quality improvement and research projects looking into prevention and reduction of hospital acquired infections.  She is involved in teaching and education of medical students and residents and has an appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Dr. Patel also sees patients anticipating surgery in the IMPACT clinic for preoperative optimization and works with various surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure positive outcomes for our patients. She is an active member of American College of Physicians and Society of Hospital Medicine.
