Biography

About Nancy Obuchowski, PhD

Nancy A. Obuchowski, PhD, is Vice Chair of the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences and Staff physician in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, located on the main campus of Cleveland Clinic. She was appointed in 1991 and previously served as an associate staff physician in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology and Radiology from 1997 - 2003, and in 1999 she held a joint appointment in the Spine Center in the Division of Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. 

She earned her B.S. in biology from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, N.H., in 1984; her M.S. in biometry from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1987; and her PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa., in biometry in 1991.

Dr. Obuchowski has served as chairman for the Data Safety Monitoring Committee of a Virtual Colonoscopy Study (2001-2002). From 2003-2005, she was the Lead Editor of a series on research methods for radiologists, published in the American Journal of Roentgenology. Dr. Obuchowski was part of a Special Emphasis Panel for the National Cancer Institute in 2002 and 2003.  

She has also served on the Regional Advisory Board of ENAR Biometric Society and the American Heart Association Committee on New Imaging Modalities. She has authored or co-authored numerous journal articles as well as various selected publications, books and book chapters, including "Statistical Methods in Diagnostic Medicine" (Zhou XH, Obuchowski NA, McClish DL.;  Wiley and Sns, Inc., New York, 2002) and "Imaging as a Screening Tool" (Modic MT, Obuchowski NA.; Book chapter for "Clinical Preventive Medicine," edited by Richard Lang, MD, 2003).
