Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists may collaborate with the pharmaceutical or medical device industries to help develop medical breakthroughs or provide medical expertise or education. Cleveland Clinic strives to make scientific advances that will benefit patient care and support outside relationships that promise public benefit. In order for the discoveries of Cleveland Clinic physicians' and scientists' laboratories and investigations to benefit the public, these discoveries must be commercialized in partnership with industry. As experts in their fields, Cleveland Clinic physicians and scientists are often sought after by industry to consult, provide expertise and education.
To assure professional and commercial integrity in such matters, Cleveland Clinic maintains a program that reviews these collaborations and, when appropriate, puts measures in place to minimize bias that may result from ties to industry. Cleveland Clinic publicly discloses the names of companies when (i) its physicians/scientists receive $5,000 or more per year (or, in rare cases, equity or stock options) for speaking and consulting, (ii) its physicians/scientists serve as a fiduciary, (iii) its physicians/scientists receive or have the right to receive royalties or (iv) its physicians/ scientists hold any equity interest for the physician's/scientist's role as inventor, discoverer, developer, founder or consultant.* In publicly disclosing this information, Cleveland Clinic tries to provide information as accurately as possible about its physicians' and scientists' connections with industry.
As of 6/13/2016, Dr. Chiunda has reported no financial relationship with industry that is applicable to this listing. In general, patients should feel free to contact their doctor about any of the relationships and how the relationships are overseen by Cleveland Clinic. Well, I have never met a more knowledgeable doctor about my condition. Stella by far exceeded my expectations and her ability to explain my foot deformity and my condition was exceptional. Even though I didn't have much of my prior medical information (my charcot marie tooth has been left untreated for a few years) she was able to figure everything out. She did however tell me that she wouldn't be able to do the surgery, but referred me to a Doctor out in Akron who she felt would be able to help me better than her abilities. Stella is probably the most competent doctor I have ever met. If I had met her sooner or any other doctors like her I probably never would have left my condition untreated for as long as I did.

This doctor was off the chart in my ratings. She was one of the best physicians I have ever dealt with. She was engaging, instilled confidence, and had a great sense of humor. She is a real asset to the Cleveland Clinic organization. We are both lucky to have her. I look forward to my followup visit. Really..

Dr. Chiunda eliminated need for a second surgery on my foot by the way she treated it after I fell the day after surgery. I am very grateful for her imagination and willingness to try something new. The thought of going through surgery a second time was daunting, but she used her skill and knowledge to achieve the desired result with a non-surgical treatment. I also want to compliment Dr. Chiunda for her wonderful personality and her skill at treating her patients as if they were guests. She is very easy to talk with, as well as being an excellent physician and surgeon. She gets five stars from me!
