Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Baseball Medicine Seminar

Cleveland Clinic Sports Health, in assocation with the Cleveland Indians, is happy to present Baseball Medicine Seminar in Goodyear, Arizona, January 16 and 17, 2010. Medical professionals, including team physicians and rehabiliation staff members, will speak on the special care and considerations when treating the overhead athlete. All aspects including injury prevention, rehabiliation, training and surgical interventions from an evidence-based practice perspective will be presented. Physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and athletic trainers are invited to this unique opportunity to learn from those who care for the little leaguer around the corner to the professional athlete.

2009 Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Symposium

Lectures will be presented by Cleveland Clinic Sports Health orthopaedic surgeons, primary care sports medicine physicians, physical therapists and certified athletic trainers. Course content will include various topics relating to the high school or collegiate athlete as well as topics relating to shoulder, hip and knee surgical procedures. There will also be a discussion on sport-specific performance enhancement and injury prevention programs.

The Knee, 2009 Educational Series
"The Knee, 2009 Educational Series” is a series of four 2 hour educational courses which will focus on four knee pathologies. Each series will include the clinical management, surgical interventions and rehabilitation concepts as they relate to each knee pathology. Lectures will be presented by Cleveland Clinic Sports Health orthopaedic surgeons and physical therapists.
Course description
The Knee, 2009 Educational Series will include the four following knee pathologies: Patellofemoral Pain, Meniscal Injuries, Anterior Cruciate Ligament, Articular Cartilage. Each topic will be covered in an evening session. Each knee pathology will include presentations on the clinical management and/or surgical management techniques which will be presented by a Cleveland Clinic Sports Health orthopaedic surgeon. Current rehabilitation concepts for each knee pathology will also be presented by a Cleveland Clinic Sports Health physical therapist.
The following objectives will be covered:
- Understand the evaluation, management and rehabilitation concepts of patellofemoral pain
- Understand the surgical techniques and rehabilitation of meniscal injuries
- Understand ACL injuries and ACL rehabilitation concepts which are dependent upon graft selection
- Understand surgical options and post surgical rehabilitation for articular cartilage lesions
