Cleveland Clinic was founded in 1921 with a three-pronged mission:
- Better care of the sick
- Investigation of their problems
- Further education of those who serve
In reflection of this, The Harry R. Horvitz Center for Palliative Medicine defines its mission as:
- Providing excellent care for patients and their families living with advanced disease throughout the illness and during bereavement
- Advocating effectively for patient comfort, dignity and choice
- Basing our program on clinical excellence, comprehensive cancer research activities and commitment to education at all levels
Our educational commitment is reflected in the pages that follow. We offer opportunities for brief visits, elective rotations, clinical trials and research fellowships, and an annual Palliative Medicine conference. Additional conferences are offered periodically. Check our website for updates and information on upcoming conferences.
