CPEN Certification Review Course

Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse Certification Review Course

Emergency nurses who provide urgent and emergent nursing care to pediatric patients and their families will want to validate their skills and expertise by sitting for this examination. Earning the CPEN credential demonstrates extensive knowledge and experience related to pediatric emergency nursing care. As of early 2009, qualified nurses are now able to take the examination for this esteemed certification.

From the West on I-90

Exit at McKinley Avenue
Turn Right. Proceed south on McKinley to Rocky River Drive (Rt. 237)
Turn left on Rocky River Drive and proceed to Lorain Avenue (Kamm’s Corner Shopping Plaza and Shell gas station is on right)
Turn left onto Lorain Avenue
Proceed less than 1 mile to 15531 Lorain Avenue

From the East on I-90

Directions to Hillcrest Hospital

From the North and South

Take I-271 and exit at Mayfield Road (Rt. 322) heading east. Follow the hospital signage. Cross SOM Center Road (Rt. 91), then proceed approximately 800 feet ahead and enter the four-lane driveway on your right into the Hillcrest Hospital complex.

From the East

Take Mayfield Road (Rt. 322) west; Hillcrest Hospital is located on the south side of Mayfield Road (on your left) in Mayfield Heights.

From the West

Take Mayfield Road (Rt. 322) east. Cross SOM Center Road (Rt. 91), then proceed approximately 800 feet ahead and enter the four-lane driveway on your right into the Hillcrest Hospital complex.

Parking

The West Park Building

Parking is free. There is no valet parking.

Hillcrest Hospital

There are surface parking lots and a free parking garage located adjacent to the hospital. Handicapped parking is available on the first floor of the parking garage and at surface lot locations around the hospital. Additionally, there is a surface parking lot located across from the hospital on Mayfield Road at the North Campus. A free campus shuttle bus is available to take you to the main hospital campus, Medical Office Building 1 and 2 and the North Campus parking lot. The shuttle service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., except holidays.

Valet parking is available at the Main Entrance and the Emergency Department entrance for a charge of $6 per vehicle; vehicles with valid handicap tags, valid AARP card or a valid Golden Buckeye Card receive a discounted rate of $4 per vehicle. The valet service is available Monday through Friday, except holidays

Faculty

Scott DeBoer, RN, MSN, CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CFRN

Scott DeBoer, RN, MSN, CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CFRN, internationally recognized pediatric nurse expert, has been presenting to thousands of nurses around the world for over 15 years. In addition to his extensive training in emergency, critical care, and flight nursing, Scott was one of the original beta testers for the new CPEN exam. Having co-authored over 40 medical articles and 2 books for nurses, paramedics, and respiratory therapists, Scott has now created a course that is highly interactive and will review key content areas found on the CPEN examination. Scott has been called the “Jim Carey” of the nursing world and will use his humor and experiences to present a dynamic review program for nurses that want to be completely prepared for this new credentialing examination. Through the use of real-life case studies, videos, and game show style test review sessions, emergency nurses will come away better prepared to challenge and pass the CPEN exam.

The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) and the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB®) have developed the new Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse (CPEN) Certification & Exam.
