The Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence (SCOE) was established in 2003 with a grant from the Office of Minority Health, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. SCOE was created in accordance with the goals of Healthy People 2010, to address health disparities and gaps in medical care, and improve the quality of care for sarcoidosis patients in Northeastern Ohio.
SCOE’s objectives include:
- Establish an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to improve access and clinical care;
- Develop culturally-appropriate educational materials and quality improvement tools;
- Create outreach to the community to educate patients and providers through key partnerships; and
- Develop a database/registry to screen and identify new patients and improve understanding of sarcoidosis
