STAMPEDE Trial

Surgical Therapy And Medications Potentially Eradicate Diabetes Efficiently

The Cleveland Clinic Bariatric and Metabolic Institute and The Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism are seeking volunteers to participate in a clinical research study focusing on subjects with Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity. Principal Investigators are Drs. Philip Schauer, Sangeeta Kashyap and Deepak Bhatt.

The STAMPEDE trial is a randomized study that will compare the effectiveness of advanced medical therapy alone versus bariatric surgery and therapy combined, for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes during a 5 year study period.

To be eligible for participation in the STAMPEDE trial:

- 20-60 years old
- Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
- Blood test showing elevated sugar levels
- Mild to Moderate obesity based on weight and height
