Overview
Uncovered prosthetic leg.
A prosthesis is more than a piece of medical equipment. It represents a life change that can vastly improve an individual's quality of life and well-being. Some patients find that a prosthesis can inspire new functional goals, and that they become even more active than they were previously. Whether a person is facing an amputation or has already had one, at Cleveland Clinic, he or she is placed in the care of a team of professionals. This team works together with the goal of developing a rehabilitation program to meet the patient’s needs.
A prescription is needed from the physician for both physical therapy and prosthetics in order to be evaluated and receive treatment.
