Performance Training Services (PTS) can help improve your sports performance or fitness level. But don't take it from us. PTS participants are happy to share their experiences in improved performance. You have the commitment, and we have the guidance. Together, we can achieve your goals.
The featured participants are cyclists and include a member of the RGF Cycling Team. Cleveland Clinic Sports Health proudly sponsors the team and works with them to increase their success.

What Bob has to say about PTS
The PTS staff has been a tremendous resource and benefit to my training over the past 2 years. The staff is so knowledgeable on all aspects of sports specific training. PTS has taken a lot of the guess work out of my training so I can focus on the workouts themselves. PTS has been so easy to work with and wish I had this great resource when I first started cycling.
Notable improvements
- Ability to focus
- Greater understanding of the nutritional requirements for endurance athletes
- Improved cycling specific power output after utilizing the PTS system
- Improved Lactate Threshold over the past 2 years while using PTS
- Greater understanding of building a detailed Annual Training Plan and tracking training data

It’s been some time since you kindly put me and my knees on the emergency check-out schedule in May and I figured I owed you a thank you and a report.
Keeping my modified (raised) seating position and making it a point not to do prolonged standing in the trainer, as well as just a bit more R&R, and I found myself pretty healthy knee-wise for the Bicycle Tour of Colorado. We were slated to cover about 500 miles of mountains and more, though bad weather curtailed a bit of that. Besides seeing beautiful country, I rode strongly (for me, anyway!) and comfortably throughout. Best still, I never cramped – which, if you recall has been a real problem for me. I believe your advice about the possibility of shunting was likely a key component: I’ve probably been over-eating in various endurance skiing and cycling events (you know to prevent bonking!) Anyway, I think I’ve done a better job walking that line of taking in 250-350 calories an hour and being sure to recharge fully afterwards. Add in more focused electrolytes, my usual substantial hydration, the use of massotherapy, and good stretching - and it all worked....
Summary: I really, really appreciate you help, Frank.

My experience was awesome!! I learned a lot from Frank about how I was riding, form, my bike being too big for me, etc. As a result I ended up purchasing a new bike. I highly recommend his program.

Frank doesn’t realize it, but he and the gang at Cleveland Clinic have made a profound impact on my life....Because of the significant resources that the Cleveland Clinic brings to the table, inter-discipline help is readily available and synergistic to the entire approach. I am a big fan of what PTS brings to the table.
PTS increased his power by 10%

I learned about Cleveland Clinic's PTS program when I visited Dr. Frank Iannotti last summer for a knee injury I had from long distance cycling. Dr. Iannotti introduced me to Cleveland Clinic's PTS that he and his colleagues were developing to provide personalized training to athletes to enhance their overall performance and fitness. This program offers a very personalized training program for athletes of different skill levels at a very affordable price. The program isn't static but has an ongoing approach and changes as one's performance improves and sets new goals for future.
The program is backed by solid technology, but what makes it great is the personal interaction with the professionals who have practiced/excelled in their respective fields for years and contributed their research to this program. Whether you are a runner/cyclists/swimmer or want to cross-train, this program will help track your performance improvement. Before you start the program, you set different goals and timelines for yourself. The sports therapists will measure your current fitness levels and chalk out a work out that's best for you and the sporting event.
Before PTS, during training, I often found myself hitting a wall, and it was extremely hard to push myself any further. This could have been because of improper training and/or diet. The PTS program not only measures performance based on certain metrics but also tracks overall diet. This way you can change your exercise routine and diet as you go along to better suit your increased fitness levels. Having access to a dietician and a sports therapists and collaborating with the two is the best feature of this program. Interaction with other athletes going through similar programs is motivating and educational/informative.
I highly recommend this program. You will notice the difference and reach/push your goals.
