Cleveland Clinic participated in both the Arab Health Congress and, for the first time, the Arab Health Exhibition 2007. Both events took place in Dubai Jan. 29 through Feb. 1.
Six Cleveland Clinic physicians gave speeches at the Congress, including Chief Executive Officer and President Delos M. "Toby" Cosgrove, MD, who presented "The Quality Revolution" at the Leaders Conference. A regular speaker at the Arab Health Congress, Dr. Cosgrove explained the fundamental changes that are taking place in healthcare systems and how the demands of providers, payers and patients are driving a quality revolution.
One of the ways that Cleveland Clinic intends to make its healthcare available to the Middle East is via Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. On September 13, 2006, Cleveland Clinic and Mubadala Development signed a 15-year agreement to establish a preeminent world-class hospital in Abu Dhabi to be known as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Set to open in 2010, Cleveland Clinic will establish, develop and operate a world-class specialty hospital and clinic in Abu Dhabi, using the Cleveland Clinic systems, procedures, guidelines and standards.
Cleveland Clinic's Virtual Visit
Cleveland Clinic offers a combination of local services, electronic consultations, telemedicine and overseas healthcare to international patients. One of those services, Virtual Visit, was showcased at Arab Health, demonstrating how easy it is for patients in the Arab world to use Cleveland Clinic services. This new teleconsultation service will allow real-time patient examinations using interactive live video technology supported by its existing eCleveland Clinic services.
