Summit Features Speakers and Organizations Leading the Way in Transforming Healthcare through Continuous Improvement Initiatives

Cleveland Clinic’s first Continuous Improvement in Healthcare Summit: A Roadmap for Transformation will bring together hospital leaders, continuous improvement leaders in healthcare, Lean Six Sigma specialists and others to learn key continuous improvement methodologies and strategies for organizational success, Nov. 12 to 13.
Registration is open for this two-day gathering that will feature detailed discussions with healthcare leaders and presentations by top continuous improvement innovators from across the country. Speakers will explore:
- Continuous improvement models, principles and techniques and their applications in a healthcare environment.
- Continuous improvement principles, infrastructure and tools used at Cleveland Clinic and other healthcare organizations.
- Strategies for developing and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement in a healthcare organization.
- Continuous improvement practices and lessons learned based on experiences from various healthcare organizations.
The Continuous Improvement in Healthcare Summit: A Roadmap for Transformation agenda includes more than 30 top continuous improvement leaders, including some of the most respected thought leaders in the industry:
- John Shook (Lean Enterprise Institute)
- Dr. Patricia Gabow (Denver Health, University of Colorado School of Medicine)
- Alice Lee (Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center)
- Dr. Lisa Yerian and Darryl Greene (Cleveland Clinic)
The afternoon will feature 15 breakout sessions for participants to learn directly from practitioners. Ten presentations from Cleveland Clinic caregivers, along with presentations from Denver Health, Henry Ford Health System, Christie Clinic (Champaign, IL), Parkview Health (Fort Wayne, IN) and Akron (OH) Children’s Hospital will be featured.
The second day includes visits to many of Cleveland Clinic’s main campus sites, including:
- The Miller Family Heart and Vascular Institute, U.S. News & World Report‘s leading heart center for 18 consecutive years.
- The Tomsich Pathology Laboratories facility opened in 2012 and designed using Lean principles.
- Cleveland Clinic’s state-of-the-art Supply Distribution Center.
- The main campus emergency department, which has effectively implemented a split-flow process to improve patient flow.
Attendees will also participate in a “Cleveland Clinic Experience” session – an enterprise alignment activity that all 42,000 Cleveland Clinic caregivers have taken part in.
