Cleveland Clinic Names Chief Operating Officer

David R. Strand Most Recently Served as the Clinic’s Chief Emerging Business Officer

David R. Strand has been named Chief Operating Officer for Cleveland Clinic, the health system announced today.

In this capacity, Mr. Strand will have overall responsibility for operations at Cleveland Clinic’s main campus along with responsibility for all hospitals and strategic business units within Cleveland Clinic’s Health System. He will also be responsible for strategic and business planning and will continue to lead the Clinic’s Emerging Businesses Division, including the Clinic’s international activities.

Mr. Strand most recently served as the Clinic’s Chief Emerging Businesses Officer, overseeing Cleveland Clinic’s strategic ventures and emerging businesses worldwide. He was appointed Interim Chief Operating Officer in January 2008.

Mr. Strand has more than 26 years experience serving as an executive officer of industry-leading healthcare organizations. Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic, he was Chief Executive Officer of LifeMasters Supported SelfCare, Inc., a San Francisco-based provider of disease management services. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and his juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
