Central DuPage Hospital of Illinois Takes Innovative Approach to Cardiac Care
The Cleveland Clinic’s Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute today announced an affiliation between Cleveland Clinic’s cardiac surgery program and Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) in Winfield, Ill., combining the academic, clinical and research components of Cleveland Clinic with a regional leader in cardiac services. This is Cleveland Clinic cardiac surgery program’s only affiliation with a hospital west of Ohio.
Yesterday, the Ohio-based Cleveland Clinic was rated #1 in heart care by U.S. News & World Report for the 16th consecutive year.
“This affiliation with Central DuPage Hospital will help address the complex need to treat patients with emerging new surgical techniques and technologies,” said Bruce Lytle, M.D., chairman of Cleveland Clinic’s Heart & Vascular Institute. “High-level collaboration between CDH, Cleveland Clinic’s cardiac surgery program and our cardiothoracic colleagues nationally is going to be a key driver in delivering patients the highest quality of care.”
CDH President and CEO Luke McGuinness said, “This affiliation brings world-class heart surgery resources, research and practices to the patients of CDH. It is quite an honor that a top provider like Cleveland Clinic recognizes our drive for quality and top-tier performance and is interested in affiliating with us.”
Once the program is fully implemented, patients will enjoy greater access to heart surgery clinical trials, treatment protocols and additional research opportunities that are offered through the Cleveland Clinic that are not currently available in Chicago.
