Observation and Shadowing at Fairview Hospital
If you are looking to obtain observation hours or a shadowing experience, please follow the guidelines below.
College Required Observation/Shadowing Experience
If your school requires you to obtain hours in your career field to graduate, please contact your program school administrator. There must be a signed agreement between the school and Cleveland Clinic.
- The college has to agree to do a background check, a health form (including TB test), and a signed confidentiality statement.
- Students also have to complete the Comet modules and bring their completion certificate to HR when requesting a badge.
- Questions from colleges can be directed to Roy Anderson at 216.444.6142.
College students looking to gain an experience at Fairview Hospital without it being a graduation requirement must contact the Volunteer Department at 216.476.7211. The Volunteer Department will refer the student to call the hospital department of the student's interest. Opportunities are based on availability within the department and are not guaranteed.
Once contact is made and shadowing/observation is set up with the department, the student is required to sign a Confidentiality and Consent to Participate agreement in the Volunteer Department. This can be done the day of the experience or before.
Call the Volunteer Department at 216.476.7211 to set up a date/time to come in and sign these forms.
