Section of Preventive Cardiology & Rehabilitation

The Preventive Cardiology & Rehabilitation Program helps patients who already have cardiovascular disease, and those who are at high risk of developing it. We evaluate our patients' health with very special attention to modifiable risk factors, especially hyperlipidemias, such as high LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol), increased triglycerides (fats in the blood), low HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol), high blood pressure (hypertension), CRP, homocysteine, as well as sedentary lifestyle, obesity and diabetes. Tests and Procedures: Tests are performed in the Section of Preventive Cardiology & Rehabilitation help to evaluate cardiovascular disease risk factors. Some of these include:

• Common Laboratory Tests - Take a look at blood tests for risk factors for cardiovascular disease, lipid blood tests and more.
• Calcium Score Screening Heart Scan -- A test used to detect calcium deposits found in atherosclerotic plaque in the coronary arteries.
• Stress Testing - A test that usually involves walking on a treadmill or pedaling a stationary bike at increasing levels of difficulty, while the electrocardiogram, heart rate and blood pressure are monitored. It is used to provide information about how the heart responds to stress.
