Drs. Anderson, Alaedeen join General Surgery Staff

The Surgery Institute at the Cleveland Clinic is pleased to announce the addition of two general surgeons to our staff in July:

Joel Anderson, MD, an American Board of Surgery certified general surgeon, specializes in foregut surgery, advanced laparoscopy and surgical endoscopy A graduate of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, East Lansing, Mich., Dr. Anderson completed fellowship training in surgical endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery at The Ohio State University Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio. He sees patients at Hillcrest and Marymount hospitals along with Drs. Malgieri, Draper, O’Brien and Dorsky. Dr. Anderson can be reached by calling 440.449.1101.

Diya Alaedeen, MD, an American Board of Surgery certified general surgeon, specializes in treating diseases of the gastrointestinal and biliary tracts and abdominal wall hernias. A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, Dr. Alaedeen completed fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery and surgical endoscopy at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, Miami. Dr. Kroh Performs Scarless Removal of a Gallbladder

Cleveland Clinic surgeons continue to expand the capabilities of "scar-less" surgery, in which operations are performed through a single-incision through the navel. This allows patients to return home sooner than normal and without a visible scar.

General surgeon Matthew Kroh, MD, recently performed a scar-less removal of a gallbladder using a single incision, laparoscopic technique. Cleveland Clinic is the first hospital in Ohio to perform a gallbladder removal, called a cholecystectomy, through the navel.

The patient returned home just two days after the procedure.

Matthew Kroh, MD, Joins General Surgery Staff

Dr. Kroh is a board-certified general surgeon who joined our staff in July. He recently completed the Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and Surgical Endoscopy Fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. A graduate of the Boston University School of Medicine, Dr. Kroh specializes in minimally invasive surgery, bariatrics and surgical endoscopy. He sees patients at the Main Campus and the Strongsville Family Health & Surgery Center.
