The Women’s Imaging Center at Cleveland Clinic in Florida has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Cleveland Clinic joins the ranks of an elite group of imaging centers in Florida to achieve this level of excellence, representing just three percent of the state’s nearly 500 ACR accredited centers.

The Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation is awarded to imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the ACR’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program. Centers have achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

The Women’s Imaging Center at Cleveland Clinic provides patients with the latest and most innovative breast imaging services, including digital mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and breast CAD (computer aided detection).

“We are proud that the Women’s Imaging Center has earned the ACR’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation, an achievement that once again exemplifies our commitment to bringing the highest quality care to our patients,” said Bernardo Fernandez, M.D., chief executive officer of Cleveland Clinic in Florida. “The staff of the Women’s Imaging Center is an integral part of Cleveland Clinic’s multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.”

State-of-the-art diagnostics is just one component of Cleveland Clinic’s comprehensive services for breast cancer. Specialists in genetic testing and counseling, oncology, breast surgery, plastic surgery, and radiation oncology work together at Cleveland Clinic to provide the full continuum of care.

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
