Physicians, Researchers and Staff

Four full-time Executive Health physicians evaluate and counsel more than 2,500 men and women each year.

Richard S. Lang, MD, MPH

Dr. Richard S. Lang, Vice Chairman of the Wellness Institute and Head of the Section of Preventive Medicine, is a staff physician in the Executive Health Program. He joined Cleveland Clinic in 1986. Dr. Lang is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine in occupational medicine, and is a fellow of both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Preventive Medicine. He also is qualified as a Federal Aviation Administration medical examiner to perform Class I, II and III medical certification examinations of pilots.

A magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College, Dr. Lang received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and his masters degree in public health from the University of Michigan. He has served as Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program and Medical Director of the Telemedicine Program at Cleveland Clinic. He was awarded the Public Health Service Primary Care Policy Fellowship in 1997. Dr. Lang has co-edited two editions of the textbook, Clinical Preventive Medicine, and serves as editor-in-chief of Cleveland Clinic Men's Health Advisor. In addition, Dr. Lang recently received a "Service Excellence Award", presented annually to 10 physicians nationwide who have demonstrated an extremely high level of integrity and compassionate care to Healthnetwork members.


John P. Campbell, MD

Dr. John P. Campbell joined Cleveland Clinic in 1989 following 12 years of private practice in endocrinology and internal medicine. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he earned his medical degree at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center of the Pennsylvania State University. He completed his residency training in internal medicine and served a fellowship in endocrinology at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology and metabolism, and also is qualified as a Federal Aviation Administration medical examiner to perform Class II and III medical examinations of pilots.

Dr. Campbell has served as an Assistant Professor of internal medicine at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, The Ohio State University College of Medicine and at Hershey Medical Center. He served as Chief of the Endocrine Service and Director of the Diabetic Unit and consultant in nuclear medicine at Akron Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the American Diabetic Association and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. Dr. Campbell has been an active participant in physician and patient education programs. His primary interests are preventive medicine, endocrinology and lipid disorders.


Anita D. Misra-Hebert, M.D.

Dr. Anita D. Misra-Hebert joined the staff of Cleveland Clinic in 2000. Previously Dr. Misra-Hebert was a member of the clinical faculty in general internal medicine at the University of Chicago, where she was actively involved with medical student and resident education and clinical practice. She completed her undergraduate training at Northwestern University, her medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, with internship and residency training at the University of Cincinnati Hospitals. She is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Misra-Hebert is actively involved in medical student teaching at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, and is course director for the Foundations of Clinical Medicine Seminars. She received a Scholarship in Teaching Award in 2005 from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine for her contributions to this course. Dr. Misra-Heberts primary interests are preventive medicine, hypertension, and women's health issues.


Raul J. Seballos, M.D., FACP

Dr. Raul J. Seballos joined Cleveland Clinic in 1997. Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Seballos is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association and a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine.

A graduate of Case Western Reserve University, he earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Ohio at Toledo. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at St. Luke's Medical Center and served a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Cleveland Clinic. His primary interests are preventive medicine, general pulmonary diseases, clinical practice guidelines and adult attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. Dr. Seballos recently received a "Service Excellence Award", presented annually to 10 physicians nationwide who have demonstrated an extremely high level of integrity and compassionate care to Healthnetwork members.


Mira Ilic, MS

Ms. Mira Ilic a registered and licensed dietitian, provides detailed and personal nutritional counseling. Ms. Ilic is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where she received her bachelors degree in psychology and masters degree in nutrition. She has been a registered dietitian since 1984 and has special interests in wellness, obesity and women's health. Her professional work has taken her to France, where she provided weight management counseling and helped to construct a cookbook for the American School in Paris. Ms. Ilic is a member of both the American and Ohio Dietetic Associations.


Maxine M. Smith, RD, LD

Maxine M. Smith joined Cleveland Clinic in 2006, bringing 19 years of experience providing individualized nutrition assessment and counseling. Ms. Smith is a graduate of the University of Akron where she earned a B.S. in dietetics. Her experience has focused on women's heart health, weight loss, wellness, renal and diabetic nutrition. Ms. Smith is a member of the American and Ohio Dietetic Associations.


Kenneth G. Alexander, M.Ed., LPC, LICDC

Kenneth G. Alexander has been on the staff of the Cleveland Clinic Department of Psychiatry and Psychology since 1986. He holds a masters degree in counseling and has completed doctoral coursework at Cleveland State University. He received specialty training at Cleveland Clinic and Saint Alexis Hospital in Cleveland. In addition to his role as a therapist at Cleveland Clinic, he provides clinical instruction to psychiatry residents and therapy interns. Mr. Alexander's specialty interests include executives, professional athletes, college students and clergy. He serves as a member of the National Football League's Player and Employee Assistance network of mental health professionals and The National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists.

In addition to his responsibilities with Cleveland Clinic, Mr. Alexander serves as a clinical instructor of nursing at Case Western Reserve University Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland. He is also an adjunct associate professor of education at John Carroll University in University Heights.


Jerry Kiffer, MA

Jerry Kiffer serves as manager of Cleveland Clinic's Psychological Testing Center. His experience includes working as a biofeedback therapist and consulting with business people, educators and athletes. He has published articles on cognitive-behavioral treatment of psychophysiological (stress) problems, authored materials about relaxation to help cope with stress, and given many workshops on related topics. Mr. Kiffer, who joined Cleveland Clinic in 1975, holds a masters degree in psychology and has completed doctoral coursework at Case Western Reserve University. He serves as adjunct assistant professor at John Carroll University. He provides personal and executive coaching services for individuals.


Heather Nettle, MA, ATC

Heather Nettle, exercise physiologist, consults with patients, provides fitness assessments and creates customized exercise prescriptions. Ms. Nettle received her Bachelors degree from Mount Union College in Athletic Training and earned a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Kent State University. Her certification in Athletic Training broadens her expertise to the recognition, prevention and assessment of injuries in relation to exercise. She works with all age groups and has extensive experience in working with the special fitness needs of older people.

Ms. Nettle works in the areas of sports performance and wellness in the department of Sports Health and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation; she also chairs the Sports Health and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Health and Wellness Committee and is an active member of the Optimal Runners Performance Program.


Elizabeth Sprogis, MA

Elizabeth Sprogis, exercise physiologist, provides fitness evaluations and customized exercise prescriptions. Ms. Sprogis received her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from Mount Union College and her Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology from Kent State University. Her expertise lies in helping individuals of any age group meet their wellness needs, improve their sports performance, and set appropriate goals. She is a member of the Cleveland Clinic Department of Sports Health and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation. She is an active member of the Sports Health and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Health and Wellness Committee, and also works with Cleveland Clinic Fit Youth at the Independence Family Weight Loss Program.
