Pulmonary hemorrhage

Pulmonary hemorrhage means bleeding lung tissue. When this happens, blood leaks into the airways, preventing adequate breathing. Pulmonary hemorrhage can occur with systemic lupus, Goodpasture’s syndrome and Wegener’s granulomatosis. Patients may need mechanical ventilation during treatment with steroids or other medications used to treat the underlying disease.
