American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM)
The American Board of Sleep Medicine was the medical board that certified doctors and researchers as "board-certified" in sleep medicine until 2005. The ABSM maintains a searchable list of sleep specialists by state or name who became credentialed in or before 2005. After 2005, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) became the board responsible for certification in sleep medicine. Currently, the ABIM website does not allow one to search for doctors with sleep medicine certification.
American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM)
The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine is an independent board of examiners for licensed dentists who treat sleep related breathing disorders. This organization sets standards for the scope of dental sleep medicine, which includes oral appliances and upper airway surgery to treat sleep related breathing disorders such as snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. The site allows one to search for a dentist by name or state.
