Cleveland Clinic's Center for Connected Care hosts an annual fundraising event, the Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing. This event helps to promote better understanding of hospice care in the community as well as raise money to help those in need that are unable to afford hospice care. All proceeds from the event are donated to Center for Connected Care's Hospice at Home.

On Friday, August 10, 2012, Hospice at Home will be holding the 5th Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing. The event will once again be hosted by NBA great, Nate Thurmond. The outing will take place at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, OH.
What: The 5th Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Gold Outing, a foursome, co-ed, 18-hole golf outing
When: Friday, August 10, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Where: Fowler’s Mill Golf Course, 13095 Rockhaven Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026
Cost: $100 per golfer before June 29, $125 per golfer after June 29. Sponsorships are also available. The day’s events will also include a silent auction and other golf-related activities.

The 4th Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing, benefiting Cleveland Clinic Hospice at Home, was held August 26, 2011 at Fowler's Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, OH.
Former Cleveland Cavalier and NBA Hall-of-Famer Nate Thurmond hosted The 4th Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing to honor the memory of his brother and raise money for the Hospice Program, which focuses on delivering compassionate home care for patients with terminal illnesses. The 2011 event raised over $13,000 with the tremendous support of the participants and sponsors.
The event included a silent auction, hole-in-one contest along with other skills games during the event.

The 3rd Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing was on August 20, 2010 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Chesterland, Ohio. Hospice at Home was honored that NBA Hall of Fame member, Nate Thurmond, once again graciously agreed to host this event.

2009 - 2nd Annual Ben Thurmond Golf Outing
Over $14,000 was raised at the 2nd Annual Ben Thurmond Memorial Golf Outing on Friday, August 14th 2009 at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Chesterland. The event was hosted by NBA Hall of Fame member Nate Thurmond. Nate was joined by Campy Russell and Austin Carr, former teammates and CAVS Legends. Along with the superstars, the event had 72 golfers and over 90 people for dinner. The $14,000 was raised at the event through sponsorships, donations and golfers. Golfers received lunch, dinner, 18 holes of golf and participation in a silent auction.
Thurmond started the Memorial Golf Outing in 2008 to honor his brother Ben, a long time Cleveland Public Schools teacher and resident who passed away in Hospice of Cleveland Clinic’s home program. Thurmond feels it is important to raise public awareness for hospice care and funds for those unable to afford hospice care.

Join our volunteer team and play an important role in the care of patients. No experience is necessary, but caring and compassion are required. Positions and commitments are flexible. Volunteer services include: home care, domestic, hands-on patient care, nursing home, bereavement, vigil care, clerical, fundraising, Speaker’s Bureau, service projects.
