Basic Foundations in Applied Behavior Analysis

This two-day workshop introduces the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Target audience includes classroom teachers, special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, paraprofessionals, principals, counselors, parents and all other personnel who have direct contact with a child with autism.

Topics include:

  • What is autism?
  • Overview and history of ABA
  • Principles of ABA
  • Discrete trial teaching
  • Basic overview of functions of behavior
  • Speech and language characteristics
  • Techniques for small group instruction
  • Techniques for paraprofessionals
  • Curricular issues

Advanced Methods in Applied Behavioral Analysis

Cost: $150 per person
April 19, 2013 and October 11, 2013
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This one-day workshop for professionals and/or those who have completed “Basic Foundations in Applied Behavior Analysis” is designed to further participants’ knowledge of various behavioral concepts. Participants will practice skills through role play, video-observation and discussion.

Topics include:

  • Description of challenging behavior
  • Functional assessment process
  • Teaching replacement behavior
  • Interventions
  • Data collection process
  • Ethical considerations
