Autism Workshops

Sleeping & Toileting Workshop

Cost: $75 per person for ½ day (participant may choose AM or PM session), $125 for full day
Date: May 19, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Cleveland Clinic Children's Center for Autism*

This one-day workshop is split into two sessions. The morning session will focus on sleeping patterns of children with autism spectrum disorders and provide strategies for promoting a healthy nights sleep. The afternoon session will focus on evidence-based toileting strategies. The workshop is designed for parents and professionals who have direct contact with a child with autism that requires toilet training or help with sleeping. Both sessions will be interactive, and participants will learn and practice techniques through active discussion, modeling, and role-play.

Basic Foundations in Applied Behavior Analysis

Cost: $300 per person
Dates: August 14-15, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Cleveland Clinic Children's Center for Autism*

This two-day workshop introduces the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Target audience includes classroom teachers, special education teachers, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, paraprofessionals, principals, counselors, parents and all other personnel who have direct contact with a child with autism.

Topics include:

  • What is autism?
  • Overview and history of ABA
  • Principles of ABA
  • Discrete trial teaching
  • Basic overview of functions of behavior
  • Speech and language characteristics
  • Techniques for small group instruction
  • Techniques for paraprofessionals
  • Curricular issues

Advanced Methods in Applied Behavioral Analysis

Cost: $150 per person
Dates:October 17, 2014
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Cleveland Clinic Children's Center for Autism*

This one-day workshop for professionals and/or those who have completed “Basic Foundations in Applied Behavior Analysis” is designed to further participants’ knowledge of various behavioral concepts. Participants will practice skills through role play, video-observation and discussion.

Topics include:

  • Description of challenging behavior
  • Functional assessment process
  • Teaching replacement behavior
  • Interventions
  • Data collection process
  • Ethical considerations

  • Please register as early as possible. Seating is limited and space cannot be reserved without payment or purchase order.
  • *Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are held at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Center for Autism:

  • When you at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Center for Autism parking is free and located on-site.
    Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the workshops in order to be signed in at the front desk.
  • We will serve a continental breakfast. Lunch is not provided, please feel free to dine in our hospital cafeteria or pack a lunch.
