What is the purpose of this pre-hire assessment?
Cleveland Clinic partnered with SHL to create a custom assessment to determine applicants’ fit with Cleveland Clinic’s culture and values. This new assessment became effective January 16, 2012. To identify the best applicant for a position, it is important to look at an individual’s work performance, experience, and behavioral characteristics. The combination of all three provides a comprehensive view of each applicant and allows for an informed decision during the selection process. The assessment assists in predicting on-the-job performance in a role.
What’s the difference between an assessment and a test?
There is no difference between an assessment and a test. The terms assessment and test are used interchangeably in the process.
Will my application be considered if I do not take the assessment?
No, all external applicants are required to take the assessment/test as part of their application process. Applicants who do not complete the test within 10 calendar days of completing the application will not be considered for that position.
Do I have to take the assessment?
External applicants who do not take the assessment will not be considered for the job which they applied. In order to move forward in the application process, you must complete the assessment assigned to the position within 10 calendar days of completing the application.
How long do I have to take the assessment?
You must take the assessment within 10 days of completing your application. If you do not complete the test within this time period, your application will be closed.
How long does the assessment take to complete?
The assessment can be completed in approximately 15 minutes. The time is based on the average time an applicant takes on the assessment. There are no timed sections.
If I apply to multiple jobs, will I have to retake the same assessment multiple times?
If you are applying for the same job in different departments or locations, your results are applied to each application.
Will I get the results of my assessment?
No, assessment results are not released to applicants. They are held confidential by Cleveland Clinic. Applicants are told only whether they meet or do not meet the requirements for a position.
Do all applicants take the assessment?
Employees in Canada, CCAD (Abu Dhabi), and Medina Hospital are not required to complete a pre-hire assessment. At this time internal applicants do not take the assessment. We are able to utilize performance appraisals and internal references for assessment needs.
