The Department of Radiation Oncology is recognized nationally for the excellence of its Educational Programs. It is a busy, high-volume department, with a wide range of clinical and technical expertise.
Our fully accredited training program offers a five year residency, which begins with a transitional year sponsored by the Department of Radiation Oncology
This superior academic and clinical training program is equipped with the latest radiotherapy and radiosurgery technology and designed to prepare our residents to become further leaders in the practice of radiation oncology.
The CAMPEP-accredited Physics Residency Program in Radiation Oncology at Cleveland Clinic is a three-year training program.
The comprehensive program is equipped with the latest radiotherapy and radiosurgery technology related to: intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), Gamma Knife Radiosurgery, stereotactic body radiotherapy (lung, spine), permanent prostate seed brachytherapy, total body irradiation, high dose rate brachytherapy for gynecologic malignancies, radioimmunotherapy, and intraoperative radiation.
The Department of Radiation Oncology is offering a one-year PGY6 clinical fellowship program to graduating residents interested in advanced clinical training. The fellowship is individualized to the interests and backgrounds of the candidates selected. General radiation oncology, as well as sub-site/specialty, fellowships are available. Particular areas of clinical strength within the department include CNS, GU and Thoracic services.
Cleveland Clinic's Medical Dosimetry Program offers a one-year training program to meet the demand for qualified dosimetrists. Graduates receive certificates, which qualify them to apply for the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) examination.
This program (recently established in affiliation with Kent State University) teaches students how to position, deliver, and record prescribed courses of radiation while applying radiation protection principles.
Each elective rotation has an assigned preceptor who is responsible for planning the student curriculum for the department. With the varied patient population and the advantages gained in a group practice setting, the Cleveland Clinic offers every student a unique learning experience.
