Mary Bamford is the Director of Nutrition and a registered dietitian at Cleveland Clinic Canada. Ms. Bamford provides comprehensive nutrition assessments, counseling and follow-up care for patients in the Executive Health Program. Ms. Bamford specializes in weight loss management, cardiac care, Celiac disease and promoting health and wellness. She is a member of the Dietitians of Canada, College of Dietitians of Ontario, and is a Certified Smoking Cessation Counselor from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the University of Toronto.
Ms. Bamford was raised in Fonthill, Ontario and completed her Bachelor of Sciences degree in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Western Ontario and her Dietetic Internship at University of Alberta hospitals. Continuing her education, she earned a Master of Business Administration degree from McMaster University.
Ms. Bamford appears frequently as a nutrition expert in television, radio and print media. Her media credits include CBC and CTV television, CBC radio, as well as The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and Canadian Living. Passionate about healthy eating, Ms. Bamford brings evidence-based nutrition principles to the home kitchen and table during cooking classes at Wellspring Cancer Support Centres.
Committed to advancing nutritional education, Ms. Bamford volunteers with the Dietitians of Canada and the College of Dietitians of Ontario. In addition to being a volunteer media spokesperson for the Dietitians of Canada, Ms. Bamford has also helped develop consumer tools (apps), which are available on the Dietitians of Canada’s website, called eaTRACKER and eatWise. As a volunteer for the College of Dietitians of Ontario, Ms. Bamford worked closely with a quality assurance group in order to create and test Professional Practice Assessment tools.
In her leisure, Ms. Bamford enjoys spending time with her family and their dogs, Cocoa and Nougat. Her favourite activities are hiking, biking, cooking, reading and grocery shopping.
