Biography
Timothy Kelton, MD., is the Director of Travel Health for Cleveland Clinic Canada. An international practicing physician for over 15 years, Dr. Kelton has gained a reputation for his expertise in treating illness and disease in underdeveloped countries. Dr. Kelton is a tireless advocate for global health; he has traveled, worked and/or taught in over 20 countries around the world helping to treat or prevent illness and disease. He has also served as a consultant assessing medical projects in Bosnia and Cambodia.
In addition to his Cleveland Clinic Canada appointment, he is an active clinical staff member at The Scarborough Hospital and North York General Hospital. He is also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, a position he has held since 2004.
Dr, Kelton earned his medical degree from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, where he graduated magna cum laude. He completed his rotating internship at Scarborough General Hospital, University of Toronto, and his residency in Family Medicine at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. His ongoing clinical work and passion for international health have led him to become a sought-after speaker, having presented or lectured at numerous engagements around the world. He also has expressed his commitment to global health by advising or serving on the board of several non-profit international organizations during his career.
In his free time, Dr. Kelton enjoys his three young children, cross-cultural travel, reading, book collecting, fishing, photography and playing the piano, where he is a Royal Conservatory of Music Grade VIII certificate.
