Irving S. Gottesman, MD

Biography

Irving S. Gottesman, MD., is a member of the Cleveland Clinic Canada clinical staff, serving as endocrinologist to a number of wellness and lifestyle program participants. Dr. Gottesman has his internal medicine and endocrinology board certification both in Canada and the USA and has a special interest in the study of metabolism, diabetes and endocrinology.

Dr. Gottesman was raised in Toronto, Canada and went on to graduate from the University of Toronto with both his pre-med and medical degrees. He completed his internship at Toronto Western Hospitals and performed his residency training at Mount Sinai, Toronto General and Wellesley Hospitals in Canada. He furthered his medical education at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester MN with a research fellowship in diabetes mellitus.

Dr. Gottesman’s interest in advancing education is reflected in his position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, where he has instructed since 1985. Highly skilled and sought-after, he has authored or contributed to 68 publications and has presented at nearly 300 meetings and scholarly addresses. He has a busy clinical practice, teaches undergraduate and post graduate students and runs a clinical research program.

Dr. Gottesman is an active member of over a dozen medical organizations and has served on numerous boards and committees throughout his career.
