Dr. Chi-Ming Chow

Biography

Dr. Chi-Ming Chow is a cardiologist for Cleveland Clinic Canada’s Cardiology Consultation and Cardiac Prevention programs. When he is not caring for patients at our clinic, he is an attending staff cardiologist at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and Interim Director of E-Learning Innovation in the Office of Integrated Medical Education, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Chow is also an advisory board member and a media spokesperson for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and the Vice-President of the Chinese Canadian Council, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Dr. Chow completed his Doctor of Medicine degree and a Masters in Epidemiology degree at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec. He completed his residency training in family medicine, internal medicine and cardiology also at McGill University. He then pursued a clinical and research echocardiography fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA. He has undergraduate degrees in biology and computer science from Brown University, USA.

He has been widely published, delivered presentations and special lectures, and has received multiple local and national awards recognizing his contributions to the community, and education, research and innovation in medicine. He is a winner of the Ruedy Award for Innovation in Medical Education presented by the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada and Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine as well as the 2009 William Goldie Prize for Innovation by the Department of Medicine, University of Toronto. In recognition for his services to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, he was the recipient of the Award for Volunteer Excellence in 2007 and the Rick Gallop Award for Pioneering Leadership in 2008.

He also actively participates in health promotion and research among ethnic Chinese in Canada. He was awarded the Best Community Service Award by the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs in 2010.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, photography, SCUBA diving, golfing, and bowling.
