Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center

A Team Approach to Individualized Care

Many factors – including type, size, and location of the brain tumors – are considered when determining the most appropriate and effective brain tumor treatment strategy.

A multidisciplinary staff of neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, neuro-radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and neuropathologists at Cleveland Clinic Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center work together to determine the most appropriate brain tumor treatment plan for each patient. Often, effective management of brain tumors involves using a combination of treatments. The Institute offers a broad array of brain tumor treatment options for both benign and malignant brain tumors, including:

brain surgery
  • frameless stereotactic navigation
  • skull base techniques
  • intraoperative MRI
radiotherapy treatment
  • 3D conformal dose planning
  • intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT)
  • brachytherapy
radiosurgery treatment
chemotherapies treatment
  • oral
  • intravenous
  • intra-arterial
  • intra-arterial with blood-brain barrier disruption
  • intra-tumoral
  • stem-cell harvesting

In addition to conventional treatments, the Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center also offers innovative, investigational brain tumor treatment such as:

  • small molecule therapies
  • growth modifier treatment
  • convection enhanced delivery of immunotoxins treatment

As research continues to enhance our understanding of the molecular makeup of tumors, small molecule drugs that target specific molecular pathways in tumors will play an increasingly important role in brain tumor treatment. The introduction of these small molecule therapies and the routine use of molecular and chromosomal testing helps to guide individual patient management. This approach to patient care puts the Brain Tumor and Neuro-Oncology Center at the forefront of individualized care and molecular management of brain cancer.
