Ethics Consultation Service

The Ethics Consultation Service provides 24/7 on-call coverage for Cleveland Clinic. With this reorganization, mechanisms for requesting ethics consultations were standardized across the hospital and a departmental call system was established.

The service provides more than 200 consultations per year. All consultations are conducted by trained clinical bioethicists who provide a first line response to requests for assistance in dealing with ethical problems or questions arising in the care of patients.

During regular working hours, the Ethics Consultation Service can be reached by telephoning the Department of Bioethics at 216.444.8720. During all other times, an ethics consultation may be requested by using Pager 22512.
