Section Head:
The section head is responsible for all activities that encompass the management of the Clinical Engineering Section within either the Department of General Anesthesiology or the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.The section head oversees the daily activities of the section including the management of personnel and all aspects of medical instrumentation and supplies. The section head provides clinical and technical expertise to individuals conducting research and provides instruction and education to students, staff and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA)s regarding safety, clinical instrumentation and equipment operation.
Instrumentation Engineer:
The instrumentation engineer supervises the activities of specified technical support personnel. The instrumentation engineer provides technical support to the medical staff during routine procedures and special projects and coordinates technical activities that involve other Cleveland Clinic departments or with outside representatives. The instrumentation engineer maintains and operates special data gathering and measuring instrumentation systems.
Anesthesia Technician:
The anesthesia technician provides clinical assistance during operating room cases under the direct supervision of the clinical staff. The anesthesia technician responds to operating room calls that request assistance regarding anesthesia supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products, forms, equipment or other items required during surgical procedures. The anesthesia technician sets up, operates, maintains and transports specialty devices used in the clinical environment.
Specialty Equipment Technician:
The specialty equipment technician provides technical support to the medical staff during routine procedures and special projects. The specialty equipment technician performs technical and preventative maintenance functions in the surgical and recovery areas. The specialty equipment technician specifies, designs, and constructs specialized medical instrumentation.
Anesthesia Equipment Specialist:
The anesthesia equipment specialist stocks disposable and reusable anesthesia-related supplies in specialty carts, operating rooms, induction rooms and sub-sterile equipment rooms. The anesthesia equipment specialist responds to operating room calls that request assistance regarding supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products, forms, equipment or other items required during surgical procedures. The anesthesia equipment specialist cleans, disinfects and re-inventories reusable equipment and instrumentation.
