Shadowing programs for students

Would you like to know what working in the hospital is like? Without direct experience students often don’t know if a particular job fits their interests. You should try a Cleveland Clinic Health Sciences Shadowing Program. This program helps you to answer the question whether you can do this job and whether you would enjoy it. You can learn about the tasks and responsibilities of the position and learn how a department operates and how the teams within the department work together.

Shadowing programs are an opportunity to watch or “shadow” an experienced professional while they work. In this way, you can obtain first-hand learning experience about a position that you may be interested in but currently know little about. During a job shadow, you will follow, observe and ask questions in a way that is not interfering with the work being done.

Students who are interested in participating in the Cleveland Clinic Shadowing Program can find out more about the program for a specific Health Science areas.

To apply, students must provide all of the following:

  • The most recent transcript
  • A recommendation letter from your school guidance counselor
  • Consent form for Minors, if applicable.

You will have a one-hour orientation and be asked to sign a Confidentiality Agreement at the beginning of the shadowing period.
